My name is Robin and my husband Gary and I have a passion for raising puppies. We both have raised dogs all of our lives, but until 6 years ago, we were only hobby breeders. We enjoyed what we did so much we thought we would do this professionally. Gary and I are only small scale breeders and don't always have puppies available, we only specialize in three breeds, West Highland White Terriers, Bichon Frise and the Cairn Terriers. Broken Spoke Kennels raises healthy, happy, farm raised puppies that have been started out with a lot of love and attention. We believe that everyone should know the unconditional love of a dog.
The picture at the top of the home page is Carolynne and Boo, one of our Bichon puppies and he lives in Wilmington NC now. The picture on this page of the little girl with the Cairn Terrier puppy kissing her is Rachel, our goddaughter who is a very big help with the puppies.
We have spared no expense regarding our facility. It is the cutting edge for the safety and comfort of our puppies, which includes 24 hour monitoring. All of our puppies are handled from birth and raised around children and other dogs and even one old cat. This helps to socialize them and also boosts their confidence. We have a strict vaccination and deworming schedule that we adhere very closely to. This is very important to the health and well being of your future puppy. Each puppy is vet checked and certified healthy before they leave us and each has it's own health records. We want to give your puppy a very good start to what will be the beginning of a very long and love filled relationship with you and yours. We offer a one year guarantee against congenital defects. This never has happened, but in the event that it should, we would offer you the choice of replacing the puppy when one is available or a refund of your purchase price of that puppy.
Much research has been invested in the quality of our dogs. All of our dogs are AKC breed standard and AKC registered and many have champions and international champions and one has several 4 X World Champions.
Feel free to browse through our web site and contact us with any questions. We are not claiming to raise show quality dogs, even though some of our puppies have been bought for show, but just beautiful, breed standard quality dogs and we offer them at a resonable price. We take a lot of pride in what we do and love our dogs very much!
Our dogs have the choice of inside or out, which we feel is much healthier for them. They are not in wire cages, they know what grass, dirt and sunshine feel like to romp and play in. They even have a playpen that my husband built so the dogs can play in on the really nice days.
WE REFUSE TO SELL TO PET STORES OR BROKERS, WE SELL TO INDIVIDUALS ONLY. WE ALSO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY SALE. Because we don't sell to pet stores or brokers, we are NOT required to keep the USDA or the State licensing it is our choice to keep our licenses, (which costs us hundreds of dollars each year to renew), this is another way for us to stay on our toes. We want the best for our dogs...that's the bottom line.
Broken Spoke Kennels is licensed with the State of Missouri and USDA, and we are members in good standing with the MPBA, (Missouri Pet Breeders Assoc.), and AKC. We have never been written up for any non-compliances and it is a record we are very proud of. Our facility and our records are inspected by these organizations and our vet every year, several times a year and we wouldn't have it any other way.
